These are the published minimums as they stand today. A site with a couple of thousand readers a month qualifies for almost none of it.

Ezoic was the one that took small sites. Its minimum was a few thousand visits. In February 2026 it raised that to 250,000 monthly users, and the trade press described it as leaving the small-publisher market. Raptive had already been at 100,000 until October 2025.

Which leaves a great many sites with real readers and nowhere to go.

Why we can do it

This is a billboard, not an auction

The minimums are not snobbery. A programmatic network sells each impression into an auction, and an auction needs volume before it can price anything at all. Below some number the revenue will not cover the overhead, so they draw a line.

AdHotBox does not run an auction. An advertiser buys a place — a town, a subject, a set of sites — the way somebody buys a billboard or a page in the church bulletin. There is no bidding to be thin, so there is no floor to defend.

Which is why two thousand readers in one town can be worth something here and worth nothing at Mediavine. It is a different product, not a cheaper version of the same one.

The plugin costs nothing and there is nothing to buy.

1. Advertise · How this compares · Apply and tell us where your readers are. You get a publisher key.
2. Install the plugin and paste the key into Settings → AdHotBox.
3. Put an advertisement wherever you want one — the block, the widget, or the shortcode [adhotbox size="card"].
4. Open your desk and accept the advertisers you want.

Banned across the whole network. No publisher can switch these on, and no amount of money changes it.
