ADHOTBOX

Twenty dollars a month, and you are told exactly what happened.

Every site your advertisement runs on chose to accept it. You see where it ran, how often, and how many people clicked — counted by our server, not reported by the site.

What it costs

One placement, one month

A placement, a month You pay The site keeps
Words, or a picture $20 $5
Video, 45 seconds $50 $12.50
Political and ballot questions $110 $27.50
Political video, 45 seconds $150 $37.50

Month to month. No contract, no minimum spend, stop whenever you like. Nothing before the first placement — no setup fee, no platform fee, no agency.

Why political costs more: it is the category most publishers refuse, it arrives in a rush and stops dead the day after an election, and it carries rules the others do not. The site that takes it is paid for the aggravation.

The part nobody else will show you

Your advertisement is trackable. The reader is not.

Most people distrust advertising because it follows them around. That is a different thing from knowing whether your advertisement worked, and we do the second without the first.

What your report looks like

SiteWhereShownClicks
a town events pageClifton, NJ1,41231
a local news siteNutley, NJ90618
a trade blogPassaic, NJ6449

Plus the same by day, for ninety days.

Clicks are recorded by our own server as the reader passes through it on the way to you. A click a site reports could be invented. One our server sees cannot.

And there is nothing in it about a person, because nothing about a person is recorded. No cookie, no identifier, no profile. Just which advertisement appeared where, and how often.

To be plain about it

What we count, and what we refuse to

You get

Every site it ran on, and the town that site serves.

How many times it was seen — counted only when it was actually on screen, not when it was merely on the page.

Every click, server-side.

A day-by-day record for ninety days.

You do not get

Who saw it. We do not know.

Their address, device, or anything they did before or after.

The ability to follow them to another site.

Their email, and no way to buy it.

Images are uploaded to us and served from adhotbox.com. An image loaded from an advertiser's own server is a tracking pixel whether it was meant that way or not — it hands the advertiser the reader's address, browser and the page. So that is not how it works here.

Where it runs

As wide or as narrow as you like

*

Every site on the network.

US

A country.

US-NJ

A state.

US-NJ-Clifton

One town.

And by subject as well — events, local news, food, trades, real estate, auto, retail, health, education, nonprofit and the rest. A roofer can buy one town and the trades pages in it, and nothing else.

One thing to know before you buy. Every publisher approves each advertiser by hand. You may be accepted by some and not others, and you are only ever billed for the placements that actually ran.

Local races

School board, town council, ballot questions

A local candidate has a few thousand dollars and nowhere sensible to spend it. Television is county-wide and mostly wasted. The big platforms walked away from political advertising because the rules were not worth their trouble.

A hundred and ten dollars a month on the town's own news site is what you actually want, and until now you could not buy it. Forty-five seconds of you talking to camera is a hundred and fifty.

Two things are required, and one of them we enforce. Every political advertisement carries a paid for by line naming who paid, printed on the face of it. Without that line it does not run — the field is not optional and there is no way round it.

The second is yours: disclosure rules differ by state and by office, and following the ones that apply to your race is your responsibility, not ours. We print what you tell us and we keep the record.

And every publisher can refuse political advertising outright. Many will. You are never charged for a placement that does not run.

Not accepted

What we will not run

Adult or sexual content Stock promotion and issuer advertising Token sales and presales Payday and high-interest lending Get rich quick, miracle cures, advertisements dressed as news

Nothing animates, nothing expands, nothing covers what a reader came for. Text, an image with a line under it, or a video that waits to be pressed. Never autoplay. Never sound without a press.

A person reads every application. Nothing runs until it has been read and until the sites accept it.
